Hatmi to carry Oman’s flag at Olympics

Ahmed al Hatmi, Oman's lone shooting hopeful at the 2012 London Olympics, has been selected by the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) to be the flag-bearer at the Games, which begins on July 27. 

Speaking to Muscat Daily on Saturday, Habib Macki, the OOC's acting chairman, confirmed the decision to pick Hatmi as Oman's flag bearer.

H E Sheikh Saad al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs, Macki and Salim al Masroori, the OOC director, will attend the opening ceremony of the Games. The other Omani athletes at the Games are Barakat al Harthy (100m sprint), Ahmed al Marjabi (400m) and Shnoona al Habsi (100m).

Hilal al Sinani, the OOC's general secretary, is Oman's head of delegation while Kazem al Balushi will be the chef de mission. Oman Athletics Association chairman Hamad al Jabri and Oman Shooting Association general secretary Hamad al Jawhari will represent the respective sports associations at the Games.
