With a steady breeze but massive shifts in direction, the ten teams fought out an intense and tactical battle to produce exciting results. The day's main race was the 21-nautical mile Masirah Coastal Raid where Beijaflore rallied from seventh to clinch the race ahead of Oman Shipping Company.
Beijaflore’s skipper Valentin Bellet said, “I am happy as this marks the start of the Tour for us. This is our first win of the regatta, and to take it on a coastal raid is very good for the whole team.”
The long coastal race was followed by two stadium races - Seaflotech and Cheminée Poujoulat taking the honours.
The win saw Seaflotech move up to third in overall leaderboard. Oman Shipping Company and MOOD have slipped to fourth and fifth spots respectively, with Golfe du Morbihan sixth ahead of CER Geneva.
On Sunday, six more stadium races could be held in Masirah before fleet moves on to Duqm.
Overall leaderboard: 1 Cheminée Poujoulat (11 points), 2 Beijaflore (14), 3 Seaflotech (15), 4 Oman Shipping Company (15.5), 5 MOOD (19), 6 Golfe du Morbihan (19.5), 7 CER Geneva (27), 8 EFG Bank (27), 9 Renaissance (32), 10 DB Schenker (40).
