Oman wins award for environment management in Islamic world

Oman, represented by the Marine Sciences and Fisheries Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, has won an award in Saudi Arabia for best environment management in the Islamic world in 2018-19.

The centre won the award for its project ‘Verifying the Age and Growth of Spotted Small Spots in the Northwest Coast of the Sea of Oman’.

The award will be presented at the opening ceremony of the eighth Islamic Environment Ministers Conference, which will be held at the headquarters of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in October in Rabat, Morocco.

The award focuses on environment management in the Arab world, encourages Arab countries on sustainable development and highlights the successful Arab and international practices in the field of environment management.
