The exhibition is being organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, and will be inaugurated by H E Dr Fuad bin Ja’afar bin Mohammed al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.
The agriculture and fisheries sector plays an important role in diversifying the economy of Oman. The government’s economic development policy emphasises the expansion of non-oil sectors, one being the agriculture and fisheries sector.
The expo aims to link the sector as well as the related government organisations with industry experts and suppliers by sharing innovative ideas and solutions to transform the sector, showing the potential involved towards its contribution to the sultanate’s growing economy. The exhibition will feature over 75 companies locally and internationally, including countries from Iran, India, Italy, Turkey, The Netherlands, Denmark, South Africa, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka and many more.
World Halal Food Assembly Oman, a two-day conference will be held along the Agro Oman Exhibition on May 16 and 17. The conference will feature top international and local speakers from the sector to share their knowledge and discuss the various challenges faced by the industry.
The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) will be organising a workshop on Halal Standards on May 17. The SMIIC Halal Food standards are the most popular standards for the manufacturing industry throughout the world in both Muslim and non-Muslim countries and are widely used in the food industry as well as by certification bodies.
The registration for the workshop is free of charge.
