Salalah Rotana Resort appoints new GM

Salalah Rotana Resort announced the appointment of Stefan Thumiger as the new general manager at the luxurious property in Oman. Thumiger has more than 35 years of experience and has started with Rotana Hotels 5-star property on July 7, according to a press release.

Thumiger said, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to be the next leader of the professional and highly motivated team and being at the helm of the stunning Salalah Rotana Resort. There is a unique friendliness, energy and spirit in Oman which is a fantastic foundation to perform in a competitive market and creating experiences for our guests. My focus will not only be to continue building on the success of the resort but also being an active partner in the growth of Havana Salalah and developing Salalah as a destination.”

Thumiger holds a degree in Federal Chartered Hotelier/Caterer HF/SHL from the Swiss hotel and catering school in Lucerne, Switzerland. A Swiss national with Australian citizenship, Thumiger’s hospitality journey began in food and beverage department, more specifically he worked as an apprentice chef in a hotel in Switzerland working his way through the ranks and has since held senior leadership roles within many global hotel chains across the GCC, Asia and Europe.

Salalah Rotana Resort is set along the shores of the Indian Ocean and a scenic 35km drive from Salalah Airport. The waterfront resort’s 422 splendid rooms and suites are beautifully built at the ocean front, around lagoons, water features and man-made canals.
