On Wednesday, several parts of Muscat saw scattered clouds giving respite from summer temperature which had touched around 40°C in the last few days.
PACA’s National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre has forecast a trough of low pressure affecting the sultanate from Friday, April 12 to Sunday, April 14.
It has said that it will be partly cloudy to cloudy with chances of rain, thundershowers associated with fresh winds and hail over Muscat, Musandam, Buraimi, Dhahirah, North and South Batinah, Dakhliyah, North and South Sharqiyah and will gradually extend to Al Wusta from Friday to Sunday.
An official from the Met office said, “Some areas will witness moderate to heavy rainfall. There are possibilities of wadis overflowing. The sea state will be moderate to rough along the coast during this period.”
PACA has urged people to exercise caution during inclement weather and check the sea state before sailing.
